چکیده

In this paper we present a new geometric formulation (Clifford algebra formalism) of the field equations, which is independent of the reference frame and of the chosen system of coordinates in it. This formulation deals with the complex 1-vector Ψ = E − icB (i is the unit imaginary), which is four-dimensional (4D) geometric generalization of Majorana’s complex 3D quantity Ψ = E − icB. When the sources are absent the field equations with the complex Ψ become Dirac-like relativistic wave equations for the free photon. In the frame of “fiducial” observers (the observers who measure fields are at rest) and in the standard basis the component form of the field equations with 4D Ψ reproduces the component form of Majorana-Maxwell equations with 3D field Ψ. The important differences between the approach with the 4D Ψ and that one with the 3D Ψ are discussed. c © Electronic Journal of Theoretical Physics. All rights reserved.

The Majorana spinor representation of the Poincare group

There are Poincare group representations on complex Hilbert spaces, like the Dirac spinor field, or real Hilbert spaces, like the electromagnetic field tensor. The Majorana spinor is an element of a 4 dimensional real vector space. The Majorana spinor field is a space-time dependent Majorana spinor, solution of the free Dirac equation. The Majorana-Fourier and Majorana-Hankel transforms of Majo...

The orthogonal real representations of the Poincare group

DRAFT VERSION The Majorana spinor is an element of a 4 dimensional real vector space. The Majorana spinor representations of the Rotation and Lorentz groups are irreducible. The spinor fields are space-time dependent spinors, solutions of the free Dirac equation. We define the Majorana-Fourier transform and relate it to the linear momentum of a spin one-half Poincare group representation. We sh...

Solutions of the Maxwell equations and photon wave functions

Properties of six-component electromagnetic field solutions of a matrix form of the Maxwell equations, analogous to the four-component solutions of the Dirac equation, are described. It is shown that the six-component equation, including sources, is invariant under Lorentz transformations. Complete sets of eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonian for the electromagnetic fields, which may be interprete...

A New Route to the Majorana Equation

In this paper, we suggest an alternative strategy to derive the complex two-component Majorana equation with a mass term and elucidate the related Lorentz transformation. The Majorana equation is established completely on its own, rather than derived from the chiral Dirac equation. Thereby, use is made of the complex conjugation operator and Pauli spin matrices only. The eigenfunctions of the t...

Relativistic Formulation of Maxwell’s Equations for Free Space

Einstein assumed in his Special Theory of Relativity that Maxwell’s equations, including Faraday’s law and the AmpereMaxwell equation, were invariant in any inertial frame, and that the Lorentz transformation equations must be used when two inertial frames were in relative motion. Starting with a modification of the Ampere-Maxwell equation that allows for two observers of the magnetic field in ...
